TOBY JUGS FOR SALE 3

The jugs pictured on this page are just a small selection of the ones I currently have for sale.

If you are looking for a particular jug, please email me, as I may be able to help.

Early 19th C Hearty Goodfellow

Hearty GoodfellowThis is one of the few jugs that can be found where the figure is standing  rather than in the more normal seated pose.

This is a nice example in lovely pastel colours, dating from around 1800/1820.  He stands on a rustic mound  with a tree at the back, a branch from which forms the handle.

Blue & White Faience Toby Jug

Mr_PunchThis is an interesting French Faience style toby jug of Mr Punch or Punchinello.

Made in France circa 1900, these style jugs have become very collectable , & value is increasing steadily.

I particularly like this one as he has such a devilish look on his face!

Yorkshire Toby Jug

Ralph Wood Double Base

Double_BaseThis is a fine Ralph Wood type with an unusual double height base.

Circa 1780, it has nice translucent running glazes and lovely quality & detail to modelling.  He is holding a large empty balluster jug in his hands.

Standing Toby Jug

Standinf_Toby_JugStanding Toby Jug in an all over cream glaze.

Dates from the early 19th Century (c1830), and is in good condition. This model can also be found decorated in Portobello colours, so is possibly of Scottish origins.

A nice, crisply modelled jug with very fine detailing as is usual in these undecorated jugs, where the modelling makes up for the lack of colour.

Mid 19th C Scottish Toby Jug

Tartan_YorkshireThis is an attractive jug in the style of a Yorkshire Toby Jug, but with a very unusual Tartan jacket.  He has the figural handle typical of this model, depicting Pan with his arms crossed over his chest, and Acanthus leaf decoration.

This toby is very elaborately painted.

 French Man on Barrel

French_Porcelain_Toby_JugOver the years there have been several Toby Jugs made featuring a man astride a barrell.

This one is slightly different as it features what appears to be a French Dandy, holding a bottle & glass in his hands.  On this occasion, his pigtail forms the handle.  He is made of a heavy porcelain and I would say is French late 1800's.

Early 19th C Toby Jug

This is another highly decorated jug.  Dating from the early 1800's.

He has very bright glazes with an unusual fish scale style patterning to his socks & jacket.

He holds a large floral decorated balluster jug in his hands.

 Pratt ware Rodney Sailor

Rodney_SailorDating circa 1790, and known as the Rodney Sailor (sometimes referred to as the Planter).    This figure is seated upon a high backed chair under which is stowed his sea chest.

This jug is taller than the majority of Toby Jugs at 11.5" high.

This is a particularly colourful pratt ware version, and extremely lightly potted.

Small Prattware Awkward Face Toby

Awkward_Face_Toby_JugThis sweet little fellow is sometimes referred to as an Awkward Face toby. He is only 8" high and sits on a Queen Anne style chair.  He is wearing a lovely blue stippled jacket, very fancy socks and has a tall, slender jug balanced on his knee.

He looks as if he is growling, and is obviously in good health as he has a full set of teeth!
